Faction Name: Republic of Man Demonym: Havenites Leader: Prince Havril Starson Starting Paragon: Scholar Andrew Feiarfin Capital City: Steelhaven Deity: Armadyl
Nestled on the protected shore of Clawpoint Bay, the city of Steelhaven has enjoyed relative calm and prosperity since its rise from obscurity seventeen years ago. Even then, certain influential men in Armadyl's service knew the direct power of the gods over the Wars was waning. These men set out on their own and established Steelhaven as a refuge from the surrounding chaos, and, through clever strategy and occasional resorts to force, preserved it. Since its founding, the Republic has been dedicated to five principle: haven (a place for those who wish to leave the wars to come in peace), prosperity (to bring in the wealth needed to secure the Republic), tolerance (for peaceful neighbours), law (to preserve peace in the Republic), and stability (or the strict oligarchic system which actually rules the Republic).
Prince Havril Starson is nearing the end of his second, ten-year term as ruler and has done much for the republic. His clever diplomacy has held off the Republic's warring neighbours and his skillful governing has created a (seemingly) content populace and relatively wealthy land. Despite the Republic's official ties to Armadyl, neither the prince nor anyone in his administration mentions the absent gods or their mortals' duties very often.
((More will come later, but I thought I should get the out now.))

Heh, Unguis. I thought your demonym was "Heavenites" for a second, which might've created an awkward situation between us. It'll be interesting to see why your faction aligns itself with Armadyl, and why Armadyl allowed it to prosper in his domain for 12 years before his departure.
Anyways, ePi's working on his lore and we've made arrangements with Thorlah, so I think we're all good now.
Lime said the start date would be the 23rd, at the earliest; this is still possible, but unlikely. I'd give it at least a few more days after that.

Hmm, It has been a long time now. I now write to you, dear readers, of what happened before. In the time that few know of. The Third Age. But this time it isn't all of what happened back then. That is for...another greater then I to tell. I am merely writing about my own people, their defiance in that time. More accurately, the year 3639 onwards. The Zarosians.
Our story starts near the end of the Second Age, where Zaros and Zamorak fought. Zaros almost lost, but he still won. He didn't kill Zamorak though, nor defeat him. In a way, they both benefited. Zamorak ascended to godhood, while Zaros fearing a second attempt left Gielinor. One loyal acquaintance of Zaros witnessed the fight - but was challenged to fight with an unknown Zamorakian demon. We would have known more if it wasn't for the chaos of the Zamorak/Zaros duel - a portal was opened by accident, and they were never seen again. They could be still fighting now.
A party of New Zarosians fled sometime after, led by the revolutionary Tithus. He was one of the greatest Zarosians ever known. Saved what Zamorak would have destroyed. After settling in to their knew home, helped by ancient people Zaros found but told no one about, Tithus later went insane and was executed.
Leaders fell and rose, but one day a man came wandering into the city which the ancient people called Favaas Tithusi (Legacy of Tithus). He slowly rose the ranks of wizards, and became one of the Great Wizards, the Grand Magus' second-in-command(s). The current leader at the time, which was also the older (not by age, but by acquisition of the title) Great Wizard, tried to kill this man. He later killed him in a fight the leader initiated. The people saw, and called him Sithus (Tithus Reborn). The Grand Magus also stepped down to be SIthus' advisor. Sithus was now the Grand Magus as well as the leader of the people.
In his life Sithus researched many things. He didn't go into insanity in the usual sense, but he did grow mad. He died in battles, minor wars, and by natural causes. He seemed to come back every time. In the year 3145 the people became weary, slayed Sithus, and tried to prevent him from returning with spells and whatnot. It worked. To this day no one knows Sithus' fate.
The city grew, but one day, the ancient people who helped them in this unknown land vanished. They left behind everything about what they knew, but nothing about themselves as a people. Their history, culture, etc. Months following the wildlife started to change ,and creatures threatened the city. So in a harsh but needed decision they left Favaas Tithusi, headed for the ancient (ancient by the *ancient* peoples standards) land where lie the ancient ruins of Shulgaarad. It took them many years but they made it and prospered there. They were led by Hyperion, ancestor (well, great-great-great grandfather) of Are- wait, spoilers!
Fast forward to 3639. The Zarosian Colonists has settled in to Shulgaarad, and the city is booming. Rumors have it of other factions, other Zarosians even, but no one knows for sure. They are, well, rumors. Just last year was the shakedown of the Moromi line, which was said to be corrupt and evil, but they are still the leaders of the people. Some of that line are considered insane but no one can do anything about it. Not until last year, of course. The people were lead by Ares, descendant of Hyperion! When this was made known, after all the work they did, gave Ares and the conspirators that much push to fully take over leadership of the empire of Sholfurn. That, by records that the Colonists dug up, was said to be the promised empire where they could live in peace and prosperity, and the head of that empire being Shulgaarad.
Ares was appointed as Leader, and with that brought prosperity. (A bit on the government/leadership/council)
Ares, Leader Prometheus, Ares' Second, Overseer of all the other Council Members Apollo, Chief Healer, Master of Medicine, Husband of Artemis. Zeus, Grand Magus Draco, Dean of the College of the Inferno and also the sole Great Wizard, but more of a co-Grand Magus Icarus, Draco's Second (on the College's side) Athena, Mistress of War and also excellent Tactician Artemis, Mistress of Culture, Agriculture, Food, Health, etc. Wife of Apollo.
With that, fast forward to now. The rumors of other factions, and Zarosians, are starting to become true. The people are afraid that they may be wiped out, but Ares is willing to try. The people trust Ares, this is a good thing. Even I, dear reader, trust him. Even after-
Wait...wait...spoilers!

A clarification: Hephaestus is not involved at all in Sholfurn's political side. He's just a great smith born from a line of great smiths and works closely with Zeus and Draco, and sometimes with Icarus.
